Knowing God better

Today was supposed to be a really meaningful day for both Wei and I but since he isn't around, i spent the lazy afternoon doing bimbotic stuff like painting my nails in varying shades of blue... haha.. starting from black to navy blue to bright blue to fairytale blue to white.. heehee.. sorry but i'm a narcissist.. have to post a photo of my fingernails... =P

Girls, if you are interested in getting your nails done, you can come to me! I've a fetish for nail polishes... Plenty of them at home or you can bring your own and i'll do it for you =) BUT, since now i'm broke, i'll charge a nominal amount of $5 for each pair of hands! haha.. hey, i'm serious!

After so much about the nails, actually the main thing that I want to share with all you folks out there is how I have found a renewed interest in my religious faith - Christianity. To be really frank, I haven't been a faithful church-goer every Sunday. But, that doesn't discount the fact that I still believe in Christ the Lord, just that my faith isn't exactly very strong.

I was pretty surprised when my dearest cousin from Oz sent me an email a few days back. She converted to Christianity at around 17. In that email, she shared with me her testimony with Christ. I was very touched by her testimony and started pouring out all my thoughts and feelings about my relationship with Christianity. I must say that it was my first heartfelt and barest email to anyone.

She replied to my email and shared another person's testimony (Nick Vujicic). I was really moved and inspired by his words: "God won't let anything happen to us in our life unless He has a good purpose for it all." and "...I was given the wisdom to understand that if we pray for something, if it's God's will, it'll happen in His time. If it's not God's will for it to happen, then I know that He has something better."

All these words made reflect on myself and my life so far. Yes, I admit that I have felt really disgrunted at times about how things were going for me. But come to think of it, something good always come outta what I thought was bad initially.

These email exchanges really gave me a renewed sense of faith. Now, I'm actually curious to find out more about God and His goodness. Thanks couz. =)

thought provoking...

well, i just watched 'The Hostel' and it's really thought-provoking (although it might seem otherwise with all the bare boobs and sex.. haha). It actually brought back to mind the show "Wolfcreek". Both are gory but Hostel was more gory! Oh gosh.. the blood and fingers everywhere... eeww... i feel sick and green now even thinking about it... *pukes*

Both shows actually depict how dangerous backpacking can be. For Wolfcreek, the show was about 3 backpackers in Australia trying to find this place called Wolfcreek. So they found it but their car broke down so they couldn't leave the place till someone comes along (that place was those ulu kind). Lo and behold, some Southerner did come along and offered to repair their car for free. They were hesitant initially but seeing how nice the Southerner was, they decided that he can't be of much harm. So what happened was that they drank and made merry and the next morning, one of the female backpackers woke up and found out that she was all tied up in this garage looking place. She managed to set herself free and started looking for her friends. She was shocked to see that her other girlfriend was being tied up and hung by THAT Southerner! Apparently, this Southerner preys on backpackers and likes to mutilate them for his own pleasure! Scary!!!! I couldn't sleep well for days after watching the show!

For Hostel, this one was more sexually oriented. Again 3 backpackers, this time round all 3 were guys. They were in Amsterdam and were looking for some hard bang (you know!). So they chanced upon this guy who told them that girls in the East were much better. So these 3 lechers set on a journey to the East. There, they fell for beauty (mei3 ren2 ji4) and 2 of them ended up being butchered by people belonging to an organisation for human butchering. Gory and scary!!

Well, it really made me wonder whether it is really safe to go backpacking as you'll never know what'll happen and who you'll meet along the way. On the other hand, it could be the backpackers' own folly. I mean, in the case of the Hostel, these guys were lecherous to start with and that's why they fell for the trick. In the case of Wolfcreek, they could have waited till dawn to get someone to fix it rather than just follow any stranger who comes along.

There are always 2 sides to a coin, I would say. Backpacking has its own pros and cons. What do you think?

prep up for Mauritius!!

got up at like 1.30pm this afternoon.. gosh, that was a 12-hour sleep!! haha.. hadn't had that much sleep since a long time ago.. but i have reasons for that... i was so dead beat from all the shopping done yesterday with 2 of my bestest girlies - Alicia and Geri!! Love you girls! =)

Call me old but i was really tired after all the rammaging that we did at the bikini stall.. Hahaha... First things first, all 3 of us decided to grab some bikinis before we fly off to Mauritius next Sat. Hee.. Following the advice of one of my very good friends in Uni, Sab, who told me that there were a couple of bikini shops at the second level of Bugis Village, the 3 of us trudged down to that very place for a day of bikini hunting..

We got there at at about 12 plus and the majority of the shops there were still not opened.. We soon found out that most of the shops start operations at about 2pm. So we went to this cafe at the same level for some food and girly talk =) I must say that the cafe had not too bad an ambience and the food was not too bad! The best part was that the prices were really reasonable! I had banana fritter with ice-cream and that only costs $1.50!!! I ate that exact same thing at Big 'O' and it costs $9.90 or something i guess.. okay, maybe the portion at Big 'O' was bigger but what i'm getting at is that the quality is comparable.. =P

So folks, if you wanna try a new eatery with reasonable pricing and not-too-bad food coupled with wireless internet surfing, you should head down to this cafe! I can't recall the name of it but there's only one such cafe at the second level of Bugis Village so it's hard to miss =)

After having a good meal and girly talk (i must say that i'm really appreciative and thankful for the closeness that the 3 of us share... and of course, with the rest of the gang too.. long live our sisterhood!! *wink*), we trudged on.. by then, most of the shops were opened for business. Our first stop was this small stall which sold mix and match bikinis... Oh gosh, you can just imagine the 3 of us digging and rummaging through stacks and stacks of bikinis, trying to find the perfect one! hahaha... i was going mad trying to find the right-sized top for this bottom that i found.. hahaha.. well we all had a good laugh while trying to find the top to match the bottom or the bottom to match the top.. haha.. eventually, the 3 of us managed to find something for our Mauritius trip.. =) This is the one that I got from Voodoo Dolls:-
After this first stall, we decided to go away around some more. Lo and behold, we found ANOTHER bikini shop!!! hahaha... the bikinis in this shop were much nicer than the other stall.. So yea, i was whining to Alicia about how we should have walked around more before buying from the first stall.. but, yea, i got over it after a while.. hahahaha.. so here, we bought more bikinis!! heehee.. my intention initially was to buy only one set but i couldnt resist getting another one coz i really loved the print! So here's the other bikini that I bought:
hee.. i like the flowers!! If you notice, it's a totally different cut from the previous one so at least i wasn't buying the same thing! heehee... And this bottom has a brazilian cut so that's something new! hahaha.. now i'll have to tone up my butt! =P

So excited about my trip!! Although i'm afraid i'll get air sick.. heh...

till the next entry, ta! =)

The Day

The first thing i did this morning when i woke up was to rush down to GV Tampines to be the first few to catch 'The Da Vinci Code' on screen. For someone who hasn't read the book, I'd say that the movie was good! I liked it! But for other critics, like they always say, the book is better than the movie =) Nonetheless, the movie has sparked off an interest in cryptology in me! I wanna get my hands on one of those Leonardo Da Vinci cryptograms!!! heeheee....

Anyway, that wasn't the highlight of the day. The highlight of the day was to see W off at the airport. At this time of writing, he should still be at the boarding area waiting for his flight at 0210. Gosh, I miss him already =( But i know that life still goes on, so i'm gonna keep myself fully occupied! hee.. for a start, my mom is on leave tomorrow (coincidence... haha) so that means we can go for high tea and shopping!!! wwwhhhheeeeeeeeeeee!!!! heehee...

The airport was packed with so many people at 12 plus am... And I finally got to see the people whom he'll be travelling with.. Don't mean to be rude but those folks really look underaged!! The majority of the NTU students going on this exchange are females and they really looked barely 16, though they should all be well above 20 by now! W and A were telling me that I don't have to feel insecure coz the standard of the girls flying together with them is really rock bottom. hahahaha... that provided some sorta comic relief amidst the melancholic atmosphere.. Then again, I don't really need such reassurances.. W and I work on trust and not on external factors *grin*

Anywho, I just got back from the airport not long ago and am looking forward to W's sms tmr... I'm happy for him that he's gonna experience and learn so much from this trip. Pity that I can't be there.. But nonetheless, I'll be around! Just a phonecall away! =)

Take care of yourself, W... Miss you loads!

Clearing Part 1

i always knew clearing mess is tough. Today, i've come to realise that clearing your OWN mess is even harder.

The exam period has left my room in a terrible mess. I've got books, files, shopping bags etc etc etc sprawled all over the floor. So today, after much nagging from my mom, i decided to clean up after myself! Good start and easily done, I thought. BUT, obviously, I thought wrong.

You know how it is like when you wanna clear your stuff. There are bound to be things that you are unwilling to dispose off even though they seem like useless stuff to others. So what usually happens is that instead of throwing stuff out, I will just stash them somewhere else so they'll be 'invisible' for the time being. Although i know i can't "sweep things under the rug" for too long (coz they'll show up again some time later), i just can't help it! So today has been an accomplishment for me as i managed to throw away a bag of stuff.. haha.. so yea, i've to learn to let go..........

I'll be going on to part 2, hopefully tomorrow..! hee.. just to let all of u have a look at the amount of mess i have to clear tomorrow, here are some photos of the pre-packing:

busy times....

just came back from chalet.... tired coz i didn't really caught much sleep last night... Both W and I were busy playing 'Crash Bandicoot' last night, or rather this morning.. haha.. We were at CostaSands Downtown East for a short chalet stay and the chalet had an Xbox!!!! Wahahaha... ok, i must confess that I'm a PS fan and I've never touched an Xbox, not to mention, play it.. So last night was my first time!

We had to rent the Xbox games. The rate was at $8 per game and you can rent it for 24 hours. So we rented one game. While W wanted to rent 'Winning Eleven', I wanted to rent 'Need for Speed Underground'. As ladies are always right (hahahahaha), we went for 'Need for Speed' *grin*. But apparently, the CD was spoilt so we couldn't rent it. So i chose 'Crash Bandicoot' instead... heehee.. W's nice, i know.. We always get things done my way *wink*

So last night we started playing 'Crash' at about 1 plus am. It didn't start out fantastically and W was trying very hard not to fall asleep while watching me play. So I got him to play instead! hee.. Our first task was some ducky thingy. Basically, we had to shoot ducks (dumb, i know, but it was one of the obstacles!). These ducks and hens were flying, some flying from right to left some from left to right, at varying speeds. What the player had to do was to shoot these ducks and chickens to gain points. So we started shooting these birds and we soon found out that the max points for each duck/chicken shot was 96 and we had to gain 15,000 points in total to qualify for the 3rd place! That'd amount to shooting about 156-157 ducks!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, when will we ever win????

So we decided to quit that stupid ducky game and go for the next obstacle, which was a bowling game. This bowling one was kinda difficult coz there were a lot of booby traps on the bowling lane (eg: holes, ramps, curves etc). W was good and we got a Gold medal and a crystal!!! haha.. by then, I could tell that W was bored but he was trying his best to be nice about the silly game that we rented. okay, i felt bad about renting 'Crash' but we both had a good laugh at the silly obstacles, didn't we?? =)

Our last attempt at 'Crash' was to play the mulitplayer version of Grand Prix. W lightened up a bit coz he was having a good time laughing at me (I was at the last place for 70% of the races.. hey, the stupid car that I was driving kept blowing up by itself!!! ridiculous!!!) Wait, come to think of it, I think W was the one throwing fireballs at my car to make me last!!!! ARGH!!! but anyway, we both had lotsa fun though it was a dumb game =) And we finally went to bed at 4 plus...

So here i am now, back from the chalet, totally exhausted from the lack of sleep. But i'm not complaining! =)

k, gotta help W pack his stuff now.. Ta!

Down with manual cars!

well well.. i'm back from a long day of walking around shops in town... and i'm so so so so so so tired!!!! Got stuff accomplished though... haha... before mentioning that, i have something to announce.. heehee...

W BOUGHT ME THE MEXICAN TIGRESS SHOE BY ONITSUKA TIGER!!!!!! wwwhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..... hahaha

If you peeps remembered, it's that pair of shoes that i was gushing about some time back... I was so touched and surprised! And of course, he got a HUGE hug from me =)))) such a sweetie!! I felt bad coz the shoes cost so much but he said that he's happy so long as i'm happy... aaaawwwwww.... so sweet!!! hee... i know i know, girls, please control your jealousy... hahahaha... Shall not gush too much here since afterall, this is still a public domain.. haha...

so my accomplishment today was to get the size of the shoes changed. With that done, I accompanied W on his adidas jacket hunt. He needs to get a nice jacket for the trip as it might get a little chilly at night and stuff.. so off we went!

We started with the adidas at the isetan in the lido building then we walked down to pacific plaza where i almost got knocked down by a bloody taxi!!! This is what happened: I was trying to cross that small stretch of road between mango and pacific plaza. There was a long stretch of taxis waiting along that road, which presumably leads to the taxi stand at shaw centre/house (i can't differentiate between the two.. heh). So while I was trying to cross that darn road, which had a slope, this stupid taxi started rolling backwards!!!! For the benefit of those who might not know, taxis are manual cars and if you don't control the clutch properly, a manual car will roll backwards when it's on a slope. I was like !!!!!!!!!! and that stupid cabby still got the cheek to glare at me from the rear mirror. IDIOT!

Anyway, I'm fine now and the search for an ideal adidas jacket continues.... Gosh, it's tough... you know how it's like when you wanna buy this specific something and suddenly it becomes the hardest thing to find... So yes, i guess today's just the prelude to many more adidas-jacket-hunting days...

my very classy blogskin

hey folks! apologies for the long absence.... it's the exam period lar... hee... Anywho, i'm back and i promise to make this blog a better place! See, i've already taken my first step by changing that boring blogskin to this one!

In fact, i was choosing between 2 skins. This one and another one with a lime green background and a very abstract butterfly design (yes, my fetish for them has yet to end... hahahaha). So I got my sis to comment and she preferred this one. On second thoughts, I thought this one's better too coz it's classy with a tinge of mystery. Sexy.

Anywho, a heart shape is supposed to appear beside my name and not those funny characters. But i dunno why it isnt showing up... hmm... when i previewed my template, it was there but when i saved the template changes, the heart became those weird characters.

Someone please help!!
